Working closely with the main contractor, Ardmore Precast manufactured 342 no high quality concrete elements for a marine project on Inis Mor, the largest of the Arran islands. The largest sections weighted 23 tonnes, which presented problems for transportation from the production plant to site. In order to overcome these problems the company manufactured the blocks at Londonderry Port and shipped them directly to site, reducing congestion on roads and transport costs. In order to meet the delivery programme the blocks had to be cast, cured, lifted and stacked within a 36 hour production cycle. WYG Engineers provided the technical support required to meet all delivery deadlines.

As a result of the high quality of the concrete blocks Ardmore Precast were invited to tender for a further phase of the project that was originally intended to be cast in-situ. The next phase was made up of 115no precast concrete blocks with a galvanised nosing cast into the face. These blocks were manufactured at our own production facility and delivered to Londonderry Port for shipment. The final shipment arrived at Cill Ronain harbour in October 2009.
